We have been waiting 13 months now. There is not much to update with the program. Emigration permits (EPs) and court dates are coming in slowly each month but referrals are almost at a stand still. Our agency has not referred a baby in over 2 1/2 months and only 4 or 5 so far this year. This is pretty disappointing for many as we were hoping for a big surge of referrals this summer like last year. About a month ago I ask my agency if they still expected to get the 10+ referrals they were still expecting for this year and they really did not know. I think since EP have slowed down due to the courts they have drastically slowed referrals down as well.
Here is hoping fall brings much good news.
I know some people feel that it is easier to wait when you know who you are waiting for but I think it is much better when agencies put the bulk of the wait time before families have a referral.
ReplyDeleteWe only waited about four months from when our home study was completed before we got a referral, but are on month seventeen of waiting post-referral with no end in sight.
Oh I am so sorry you have had to wait so long to bring home your baby. 17 months I can not even imagine. I completely agree with you I think as hard as it is to wait up front for your referral it is easier than waiting after you have seen that sweet face. That is actually why I chose my agency which works with SWS because I figured I would prefer to wait on the front end.

I pray that you get your referral soon. We're familiar with the waiting game too- right now we are waiting for our son to come home. This can be such a hard process, but I have no doubt that it will all be worth it!
